If you knew the Bible and history, or weren't in denial of it, you would know that the Northern Ten Tribes of ISRAEL (not Jews, not Jewish, not of Judah), were not to remain in those areas but were foretold to migrate NORTH and WEST and into the ISLES. "We The People" (Am Yisrael) have done so, as the Law and Prophets testify. To ignorantly imagine Israelites have stayed put in the Middle East only is like saying the only true Jews (not Israelites) are in the Middle East (as some do say).

INTRODUCTION
Because this report will be read by individuals with different viewpoints, some introductory comments are needed. After writing a book entitled The "Lost" Ten Tribes of Israel...Found! , this author has received many letters, tracts, pamphlets, etc. presenting so many different theories about the identity of the Jews that they are too numerous to mention.

These divergent views on Jewish origins/identity has made it apparent to this author that a report on this subject is needed (in fact, some who have discussed this subject with me have urged the printing of a research report on Jewish origins and their modern identity). This report is being presented not as an exhaustive treatise on the subject, but rather as an effort to introduce essential information into this discussion.

Some readers will look at the title of this report and say: "Why write this material, everyone knows the Jews are Judah." It is equally true that others will have the following reaction: "No, the Jews are not Judah, they are actually Khazar-Edomites." This article is written from the viewpoint that God's Word, the Bible, is the arbiter of truth on all matters, and human opinions and theories must yield to the ultimate truth of the Word of God.

The author believes that modern Jews are the biblical, prophetic "House of Judah." The following material will demonstrate that the opposite view is not so much based on inaccurate, but rather incomplete, information. The pages that follow will present a faithful presentation of the Bible's information and prophecies on this subject. Presented below are several reasons why I believe that modern Jews are, indeed, the biblical and prophetic "house of Judah."

1: ZEPHANIAH'S PROPHECY:
JUDAH INHERITS THE COAST

GATHER YOURSELVES TOGETHER, YEA, GATHER TOGETHER, O NATION NOT DESIRED; [Zephaniah 2:1]

BEFORE THE DECREE BRING FORTH, BEFORE THE DAY PASS AS THE CHAFF, BEFORE THE FIERCE ANGER OF THE LORD COME UPON YOU, BEFORE THE DAY OF THE LORD'S ANGER COME UPON YOU. [Zephaniah 2:2]

SEEK YE THE LORD, ALL YE MEEK OF THE EARTH, WHICH HAVE WROUGHT HIS JUDGMENT; SEEK RIGHTEOUSNESS, SEEK MEEKNESS: IT MAY BE YE SHALL BE HID IN THE DAY OF THE LORD'S ANGER. [Zephaniah 2:3]

AND THE COAST SHALL BE FOR THE REMNANT OF THE HOUSE OF JUDAH; THEY SHALL FEED THEREUPON: IN THE HOUSES OF ASHKELON SHALL THEY LIE DOWN IN THE EVENING: FOR THE LORD THEIR GOD SHALL VISIT THEM, AND TURN AWAY THEIR CAPTIVITY. [Zephaniah 2:7]

Zephaniah chapter two begins with statements clearly indicating it is a "latter day" prophecy. Verse two sets the time-frame of this chapter as being just "before the day of the Lord's anger," and verse three reiterates that this prophecy applies to the time just prior to "the day of the Lord." Verses 4 - 5 pronounce "woe" upon the cities and inhabitants "of the seacoast," and it clear that the "seacoast" of Palestine is being discussed due to the mention of the cities of Gaza, Ashdod, and Ekron. Verse seven describes the "woe" that will befall these people (also called "Cherethites" and "Philistines" in verse 5) in the following prophecy of God:

"THE COAST SHALL BE FOR THE REMNANT OF JUDAH; THEY SHALL FEED THEREUPON; IN THE HOUSES OF ASHKELON SHALL THEY LIE DOWN IN THE EVENING; FOR THE LORD THEIR GOD SHALL VISIT THEM, AND TURN AWAY THEIR CAPTIVITY."

This prophecy clearly states that:
God will give the historic land of the Philistines (Palestine) to "Judah" just prior to the "day of the Lord."
It furthermore indicates that God was not going to "turn away [Judah's] captivity" until just prior to the day of the Lord. The phrase "turn away their captivity" is a bit clumsy; it simply means "end their captivity." In 1948, the Jewish nation called Israel was born in the "seacoast" region of old Palestine, fulfilling this prophecy. Indeed, the 1988 Edition of the Encyclopedia Americana notes this about Israel's population: "About 70% of it is concentrated in the Mediterranean coastal strip..." This is exactly what Zephaniah 2 prophesied would occur to Judah in the latter days.

Because the Jews had been a stateless people scattered among the nations for centuries (even millennia), the prophecy's language that their captivity would be "turned away" (i.e. "ended") is very descriptive of the fate of the Jews, a people who had not had their own nation for a very long time.

Furthermore, we must accept the fact that God, in his perfect knowledge, has always known where "the house of Judah" was! The historic fact is that God chose to use modern Jews to fulfill this prophecy about "the house of Judah." This is powerful evidence that modern Jews are the modern house of Judah. Zephaniah 2:6 also prophesies that agricultural pursuits were to prosper when the "house of Judah" reestablished a nation in Palestine, and much has been written documenting that the Israelis have "made the desert bloom" with their innovative, high-tech agricultural efforts.

2: THE PROPHECY OF ZECHARIAH
AND ITS FULFILLMENT:
JUDAH IN JERUSALEM

A prophecy in Zechariah 14 supports the above analysis of Zephaniah 2. Zechariah 14:1 begins with "Behold the day of the Lord cometh..." This is the same time frame as Zephaniah 2 (just prior to The Day of the Lord). Zechariah 14:2-3 prophesies that "all nations" will be gathered to battle in the region of Jerusalem, and that the Lord will come to fight against the nations attacking Jerusalem when "his feet shall stand on the mount of olives." Verse five adds that the Lord will bring "all the saints" with him (an obvious reference to the resurrection of the dead). The rest of the chapter gives more information about this climactic battle and the establishment of the Lord's rule on earth. Verse 14 states: "Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem." None of the other tribes of Israel is specifically mentioned in this prophecy, but "Judah" is there in sufficiently large numbers to warrant God's mentioning them by name. This is consistent with Zephaniah's prophecy that Judah will build a nation in Palestine in the latter days. Zechariah's prophecy indicates that Judah will be fighting to defend Jerusalem in a great war which climaxes with the return of the Conquering Messiah! What people now live in and have sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem? The Jews! Again, Bible prophecies for the latter days indicate that modern Jews are the house (or tribe) of Judah.

To conclude this point, it is acknowledged that placing the name "Israel" on the modern Jewish nation is a misnomer which causes much confusion to many students of the Bible. The Jewish state was named after the historic land of Israel, even though the people establishing the nation were from the house of Judah, not the house of Israel (the descendants of the ten tribes of Israel). A prophecy in Ezekiel 37:15-28 confirms that "Judah" and "Israel" will remain separate entities on the earth until they are reunited under a resurrected King David.

"...THE GOVERNORS OF JUDAH LIKE A HEARTH OF FIRE AMONG THE WOOD...AND THEY SHALL DEVOUR ALL THE PEOPLE ROUND ABOUT, ON THE RIGHT HAND AND ON THE LEFT: AND JERUSALEM SHALL BE INHABITED AGAIN IN HER OWN PLACE, EVEN IN JERUSALEM."

God prophesies that "Judah" would be a militarily victorious nation in the Mideast (the geographic setting of this entire chapter is the region around Jerusalem) during the latter days. This prophecy also indicates that Judah will "devour" the people who border them ("devour" indicates not just conquering people but an absorbing of their territory as well). This has been dramatically fulfilled by the Israelis in the Arab-Israeli wars of 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973; the Israelis conquered ("devoured") territory all around them, taking control of the Egyptian Sinai, Syria's Golan Heights, the Gaza Strip and Jordan's West Bank. Some of this territory has been bartered away as part of the "Mideast Peace Process," but the prophecy was fulfilled nonetheless.

This prophecy also indicates a time will come when God will intervene personally to "save Judah" and "defend Jerusalem" (verses seven and eight). Zechariah 14 prophesies that Judah and Jerusalem will be invaded just prior to the Lord's return, and the phrase "mount of olives" in Zechariah 14:4 confirms the setting is the geographical city of Jerusalem in the modern Jewish nation.

Zechariah 12:9 prophesies the Messiah will "destroy" the nations that come against Jerusalem. Zechariah 12 is a prophecy devoted to the reaction of the house of Judah (and Levi, a large percentage of whom remained with Judah) when the Messiah returns and saves them from imminent destruction. Many times the phrase "in that day" is repeated in this chapter, a phrase indicating the general time of the latter days and/or the day of the Lord. Verse two prophesies that God "will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling to all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege against Judah and Jerusalem." This parallels Zechariah 14 which speaks of a time when "all nations are gathered against Jerusalem." Notice that many nations are besieging "Judah and Jerusalem." The Bible presents "Judah and Jerusalem" as so closely linked with each other in the latter days that they are mentioned together. This has happened as the Israelis have made Jerusalem the capital of the Jewish state, and Jerusalem has become a "cup of trembling" (a major flashpoint) in world politics. Verse six prophesies that God will make:

3: FULFILLMENT OF GENESIS 49:
JUDAH A YOUNG NATION
AND AN OLD LION

Genesis 49 contains prophecies about the identities and roles of each of the tribes of Israel in the latter days. The prophecies about the tribes of the house of Israel (the northern ten tribes) are extensively discussed in chapter 11 of my book (The "Lost" Ten Tribes of Israel...Found!), but little was said about Judah as "Judah" was not the subject of that book. If this was an oversight, it will now be remedied. Genesis 49:8-12 states (emphasis added throughout):

"Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion; and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?

The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: his eyes shall be red with wine and his teeth white with milk."

Judah will be a Young and Old Lion at One and the Same Time!

This prophecy reveals much information about modern Judah. To begin with, there is a seeming paradox in this prophecy: Judah is referred to as both a "lion's whelp" and "as an old lion." However, this actually fits the modern Jews/Israelis very well. The term "lion's whelp" (a young cub) predicts Judah will be a young (or recently-born) nation in the latter days: a fitting description of the young Israeli nation which was founded in 1948. This prophecy is very consistent with Zephaniah 2, which prophesied Judah would found a nation in Palestine just prior to "the day of the Lord." Yet, the Jews are also a people with a continuous history traceable for over three millennia, and they also had a nation in Palestine in ancient times (i.e. "as an old lion"). The Jews/Israelis fulfill this prophecy as they are a very young nation which was founded by a people with an ancient tradition and heritage. Judah will be a Fighting Country!

Genesis 49:8-9 states Judah's "hand shall be in the neck of thy enemies," and refers to Judah "as a lion going up from the prey." This prophecy foretells that Judah will be an aggressive nation and victorious in warfare during the latter days, conquering its enemies like a lion brings down its prey. This has been amply fulfilled by Israeli victories in its wars, and this prophecy meshes perfectly with Zechariah 12:6's prophecy which states Judah would "devour" her enemies in the latter days. Not only have the Israelis been successful in warfare, they have leaped out at their enemies even as a lion leaps and stretches out toward its intended prey. The Israelis do not "run and hide" like a prey animal; they attack like a predator. They leaped out to attack their enemies in the 1976 raid on Entebbe, Uganda, and in their destruction of an Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981 via a bold air strike.

4. JUDAH WILL BE A SUCCESSFUL FARMING NATION!

Surprisingly, after predicting military prowess for Judah, Genesis 49 next prophesies agricultural success for latter-day Judah. Notice the agricultural words printed in bold type in the above prophecy. Verses 11-12 predict Judah's agricultural success in the latter days, and the Israelis have truly "made the desert bloom" by applying advanced Western technology in an inherently dry climate. Confirming this fact, the Encyclopedia Americana [Vol. 15, p. 524] notes that "of the goods exported [by Israel] in the mid-1980's about one-third were agricultural”. Genesis 49:11-12 parallels Zephaniah 2:6's prophecy, further illustrating the consistency of the Bible's prophecies about Judah in the latter days.

Judah will be Revered!

Genesis 49:1 also prophesies: "Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise." This has been fulfilled in the fact that modern Christendom widely regards the Jews as "the chosen people." Ironically, many of the Christians who regard the Jews as "the chosen people" are themselves Israelites (members of the ten tribes of Israel). Indeed, Christians have labelled the Jews as "the chosen people" even though the Jews have clearly inherited none of the birthright blessings promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob! It is the descendants of Ephraim and Manasseh (the British and Americans) who inherited the birthright promises of population growth, national wealth, empires, and control of strategic geographical "gates." Why have the other tribes acknowledged Judah's Israelite heritage even though they have lost sight of their own? Because the Jews have preserved identifiably Biblical customs such as the Sabbath, the holy days of Leviticus 23, and a diet avoiding "unclean" meats such as pork and shellfish. If the descendants of the ten tribes had also retained these biblical customs throughout history, their Israelite heritage would never have become obscured.

In addition:
The Kings of Israelite Nations will come from Judah! It is further prophesied in Genesis 49:8 that: "thy father's children [the other tribes of Israel] shall bow down to thee." This is explained in verse 10, which states:

"The scepter [a symbol of kings] shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come: and unto him shall the gathering [hope, expectation] of the people be."
Beginning with the dynasty founded by Kings David and Solomon, there have always been Israelites of the various tribes ruled by monarchs descended from David and Solomon. The hereditary ruling houses of Europe can be traced to Davidic kings who once ruled over Scythian kingdoms and the widespread Parthian Empire of the ten tribes [in Asia] fulfills the prophecy of Genesis 49:3 and 10. The ancestry of the kings of England can be continuously traced to the ancient kings of Judah via the royal houses of Ireland and Scotland, and the seed of David was spread throughout the royal houses of Europe by frequent intermarriages among Europe's royalty.

Genesis 49:10 also prophesies that Judah will have kings ruling over the other tribes of Israel "until Shiloh come." This is a Messianic prophecy which predicts that David's bloodline will be present in the royal houses of the Israelite nations until the coming of the Messiah. Even though Europe's remaining royalty now have largely ceremonial roles, the prophecy has still been fulfilled. And, finally, it is the coming of the Messiah toward which the "hope" or "expectation" of both Christians and Jews is directed.

We see that the modern Jews and Israelis have fulfilled Genesis 49's prophecy about Judah in the latter days (in fact, no other people on earth do so). All prophecies about Judah in the latter days point to and are fulfilled by modern Jews/Israelis. Secular evidence supporting this identification will be given in another article.

Editor’s Comment: Some people may think it ridiculous that the question as to whether or not the Jews are Judah has to be even considered. Nevertheless the question does come up even from the least expected quarters and it helps to have true and ready answers.

Did God condemn the Jews to wander until Messiah comes but blessed every other tribe of Israel with a national inheritance? Does that make sense? Is God fair? Is Israel so much holier than Judah? Or could it be, as Herbert W. Armstrong taught in The United States and Britain in Prophecy, that Israel's punishment was to last for 2,520 years (Lev. 26:21)?

After that time, around A.D. 1800, because of Abraham's obedience, God decreed that He would bestow His blessings. Did that 2,520 years of punishment apply only to the Northern Kingdom of Israel? Does God have a double standard? Once God removed the Kingdom of Judah wasn't it His responsibility to restore it at the appointed time?

Did the Anglo-Saxon and European peoples take these prophecies into their own hands? Were they able to create their countries with no divine mandate, signs and miracles, or prophetic leadership?

For those who have eyes to see, the biblical countries came into being by divine mandate since only God determines the rise and fall of nations. Many of our founding fathers were inspired of God, in spite of themselves, to accomplish our Manifest Destiny. God's overall plan is greater than any single man.

God stirred up Theodore Herzl to inspire the Jewish people with the biblical idea of having a Jewish State again. He wrote and spoke about it extensively, planting the seed of holy imagination in Judah's mind.

Later, during the British Mandate, the British began to "look favorably" upon the establishment of an independent Jewish Homeland, watering that holy seed. The Balfour Declaration was part of a divine mandate to restore Judah to "Palestine" (a satanic word the Romans used in an evil attempt to erase our father Israel's name off the map - Ps. 83:4).

God utilized political Zionism for His purposes, just as He utilized America's rebellion against the English throne. On the surface, neither were so special or righteous, but both were instrumental in fulfilling prophecy.

As for the treatment of the former inhabitants of the lands that God decreed for His people, whether Arabs or Indians, I'm sure the Canaanites would offer scathing condemnation but others would see God's purpose being worked out, however imperfectly to limited human vision. God addresses any injustices in His own way and time (2 Sam. 21:1-14), but dismisses those charges that exaggerate or exploit them to deny our basic biblical right to the lands He has chosen for us (Acts 17:26).

As the Greeks are representative of all Gentiles, so the Jews are representative of all Israel. It is to Israel, specifically to the Jews, that God has committed the "oracles of God" (Rom. 3:2). The oracles of God includes the DIVINE COVENANTS AND PROMISES (Rom. 9:4-5). The Jews hold, in trust, the biblical land deed/covenant to the Holy Land for all Twelve Tribes.

GOD MADE A LAND-COVENANT WITH ISRAEL (Gen. 12:7; 13:15; 15:18; 17:8; 26:3; 28:13; 35:12). Not once did God promise the Holy Land to the "Palestinians" so Bible-believers must reject their illegitimate claims. Those who attempt to justify foreign occupation of our land or terrible treatment of our people because of our sins are condemning themselves before God (Isa. 47:6; Jer. 50:7; Zech. 1:15).

There are many Scriptures that speak of a REPRESENTATIVE AMOUNT OF JEWS living in Israel before the return of the King Messiah, Yeshua. Shamefully, God's ministers, and consequently the Church of God, have often been blind to what God is doing in Israel today. We've failed to see the wonders that God has wrought, the types that foretell of greater things to come.

We've been ignorant of the biblical principle of duality and have nit-picked the prophecies demanding all or nothing. With that limited vision we would've argued with Peter on Pentecost/Shavuot about Joel's prophecy being fulfilled. However, it certainly was - in part (Acts 2:16-21).

Consider the following:

God promised to "save Zion, and build the cities of Judah" (Ps. 69:35). (He doesn't refer to them as "Palestinian" cities) God has faithfully done that by rewarding Jewish efforts and respecting their blood, sweat and tears (Isa. 61:4; Ps. 102:13-14). God has used the Jews to make the desert blossom as the rose and protected them during this conversion process, just as Moses requested (Deut. 33:7).

I praise God for having blessed me, from Toledo to Jerusalem, to have lived in eight kibbutzim (collective-farms) throughout Israel that have helped to fulfill these pioneer prophecies, including during Operation Desert Storm.

God clearly prophesied through Zechariah chapters 12-14 that the Jews would again be living in their ancient capital of Jerusalem, with their own rulers, and that the "United Nations" would oppose them and ultimately be defeated.

Zechariah also shows the long-awaited recognition of Yeshua by the Jews as God's Son and Judah's Firstborn and the heartfelt repentance of the political (House of David) and religious (House of Levi) establishment. In fact, Yeshua said that the Jews in Jerusalem wouldn't see Him again until they had this necessary change of heart (Matt. 23:39).

Zechariah also reveals that the Jews would again be a formidable military power in the Middle East with God working in and through and for them. Many Israelis know that God has been their true General and performed many miracles on their behalf. I've heard Gershon Salomon, chairman of the Temple Mount Faithful, recount his miraculous experience of divine protection on the Golan Heights many times.

It's important to note that God has inspired the holy prophets to write about real flesh and blood Jews living in Israel - not Jewish imposters.

Why? Because those suffering from the sickness of anti-Semitism are out to spread doubt and confusion about Israel's Jewish identity. They publish slanderous hate literature attempting to poison minds against the Jews by promoting quack racial theories and Nazi propaganda.

It's nothing less than Satan's desperate efforts to deny that God has the power to fulfill prophecy. Bible-believers reject their bitter lies knowing God's Word is true.

Zechariah also agrees with the New Testament prophecies that reveal Jerusalem as a thriving Jewish city that will suffer under a harsh Gentile occupation just before the Messiah arrives in time (Rev. 11:2; Zech. 14:2).

Yeshua will liberate Jerusalem and secure it as His headquarters. Jerusalem, the site of David's Throne, will be the seat of God's government. Yeshua, like the prophet Daniel, foresaw that Jewish-Christians would be living and working in a Jewish State. They'll witness the historic restoration of animal sacrifices and their abrupt cessation by an evil European force, quickly followed by the "abomination of desolation" that triggers World War III (Matt. 24:15-16; Dan. 12:11).

Meanwhile, the Church of God (or select individuals if the Church continues to shirk its responsibility) must ANNOUNCE TO THE CITIES OF JUDAH (the prophecy doesn't refer to them as "Palestinian" cities or "Israeli-occupied") that Messiah's about to appear!

We're to boldly offer Judah the hope and comfort that a TRUE PEACE is coming and to get ready for it (Isa. 40:1-3). We're to help prepare Israel for the shock of a GLORIFIED YESHUA REVEALED AT LAST (vs. 5) and lead them to expect an audience with a DIVINE KING whose ROYAL RADIANCE will illuminate every nation.

We must identify Yeshua as the "Son of Man" from Heaven that Daniel previewed (Dan. 7:13-14), and stress that Zechariah gave an "eyewitness account" of this same DIVINE SAVIOR descending from Heaven to reign as LORD from Jerusalem over the whole earth (Zech. 14:3-4, 9, 16).

Remember this is no small task, and is quite controversial, since the Jews are still looking forward to a human leader to save them from all their troubles.

The Two Witnesses will be the most influential in reaching the cities of Judah from Jerusalem (Isa. 40:9; 52:7-8), effectively knowing their mindset and culture (unlike so many others), but the Church of God should still do what we can now.

These exciting Scriptures clearly prove (they're not assumptions) that with God nothing is impossible: the Jews would again be living in an independent Israel, resurrected from the dust of history just prior to Messiah's coming, with Jerusalem as their capital, complete with an effective fighting force, having been restored to their ancient cities and energetically transforming the land from barren desert to productive fields - all with God's blessing (Ezek. 37:1-14).

These Scriptures glorify God as faithful and we should praise Him that His Word is good and true. Amen.

To those interested in the history of the Celtic Peoples and their modern descendants in Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Brittany and Cornwall and their descendants around the world, a subject often raised is possible connections with ancient Israelites, in particular the Lost Tribes of Israel.

The purpose of this article is not to confirm Celtic connections with the Lost Tribes of Israel, but to discuss some of the many common characteristics of modern Celtic Peoples and ancient Israelites. These characteristics I call "commonalities". I am not attempting in this short essay to establish connections which have been addressed in many other volumes. I will point out and discuss a few of the commonalities between these Peoples.

Lost Tribes of the House of Israel

The Peoples we refer to as the Lost Tribes were part of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, conquered by the Assyrians around 740-720 B.C.E. and exiled to areas in Assyria and to the north. This story is told in the Bible in the Second Book of Kings, Chapters 17 and 18. About the same time a contingent from the Kingdom of Judah was also exiled to northern lands. It is these Peoples and their immediate descendants who are also variously referred to as the Lost Tribes, and the subject of many works and studies.

Being both Irish and Jewish, I grew up familiar with customs and cultures of both Peoples, Irish and Jews, only in later years becoming aware that they had quite different cultures and greatly varying cultural characteristics. Yet growing up with both cultures, I had noticed similarities even on a casual basis. Over the years I began to notice more and more similarities and in recent years I began to collect this data into what I term an Overview which I am still assembling. It is this Overview in differing areas of life that I will discuss here.

There are a number of areas that I have been looking at which include: Language, agriculture, religion and taboos, burial practices, music and folk dancing, the traditions and self determinations and self-identification of the Celts and other areas as they arise. I will point out a few items in each category and note that these are just a few of a great many commonalities. I mention them as examples.

Language is one of the subjects that led to my overall interest in the topic as early on I noticed similarities. Considering the long period of time from the expulsion of the Israelites until today, it would seem likely that there should be little, if any, common letters, words or structures. This is not the case. There is much in common.

Gaelic is a member of the Celtic group of the Indo-European family of languages that includes Russian, English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi and Italian. The Celtic group has been confined to the British Isles, part of the French coast and a tiny enclave in Spain.

Linguistic Similarities

The Celtic language group is divided into two divisions which has three languages in each division. Each division makes up its own unique language. The two branches are:

The BRYTHONIC branch which is made up of the Welsh, Breton and Cornish languages.

The GOIDELIC branch with the Irish, Scots and Manx Gaelic languages.

The Breton and Cornish languages are seeing some resurgence after near extinction. The Irish, Scots and Welsh languages are holding their own at this time. Manx is an ancient form of Irish and is considered to be the oldest and purest Irish Gaelic in existence.

Manx is very close to the extinct dialects of nearby Ulster and Galloway. It separated from Old Irish around the Fifth Century B.C.E. Manx occupies much the same relation to Old Irish as Icelandic does to Old Norse. For the purpose of my study I have chosen to concentrate on Manx and Scots Gaelic. I am sure though that an in-depth study of Welsh or other Gaelic languages would provide much food for thought on this issue.

The Gaelic alphabet as well as the ordinal numbers show more commonality with Hebrew than might be expected after 2,700 years of divergence. For example, we have a Hebrew "s" retained in the modern Gaelic. The Hebrew Sheen, pronounced "Sh" is found in the Irish "s" as in the name Sean, pronounced Shawn. Other letters are also similar. The ordinal numbers 6 & 7 are pronounced almost the same in Hebrew and Gaelic.

Words with same or similar meanings abound. For example, the Hebrew word for "holy" in common usage according to Halacha (Jewish law) is Kasher. The word in Manx Gaelic for "hallowed" or "holy" is Casherick. The syntax of Gaelic is entirely different from any other European language, especially English. R.L. Thompson, in his work "Outline of Manx Literature and Language" says that "in several respects Gaelic syntax has similarities with that of languages like Hebrew and Arabic".

As in Hebrew, adjectives follow the noun that they describe. For example, "ben vie" = "a good woman in Gaelic. "Rosh ketan" = "small head" or "stupid" in Hebrew. ("Vie" or "ketan" being the adjectives). Word order is also similar in Hebrew in that the verb usually comes first in the sentence, unlike English or many other European languages. These are just a very few of the many commonalities that I believe suggest a definite connection between the two languages and their family streams. This alone should be a subject for a major comparative study.

Commonalities in Ethnic Customs

One of the first areas in which I noticed similarities was in customs, notably folk dancing; and, later, musical instruments. The Hebrew Hora and other old traditional dances are paralleled in many Gaelic folk dances, especially the wedding dance of the Gaels which is very similar to the traditional Ashkenazi wedding dances of Europe.

Musical instruments of the Gaels are found in the Israelite tradition, notably the harp in both Celtic tales and certainly Hebrew tradition as the favoured instrument of the psalmist David (please see the article "The Harp of David and the Harp of Ireland" by John Wheeler in the August-October, 2006 issue of "Origins of Nations").

One of the most intriguing discoveries was that the Irish and Scots pipes with which we are all familiar have their origins in the desert flute played daily throughout the Middle East. The flute of desert shepherds is identifiable in the "chanter" of the Irish and Scots pipes.

Amazing Religious Parallels

The ancient religion of the Celtic Peoples prior to Christianity was generally believed to be Druidism, of which little is known. That which we do know indicates many similarities to Canaanite religions that the Northern Israelite Tribes turned to after they separated from the Kingdom of David and Solomon after Solomon's death. Like the pagans of Canaan, the sacred places of the Northern Israelite Tribes became high hilltops and sacred groves, notably oaks.

Archeology shows many similarities between Northern Israelite Kingdom ritual sites and Druidic sites in the Isles. Additionally, the burial practices of both the Peoples of the Northern Israelite Kingdom and the Celts show much similarity in the presence of Dolmens -- large slabs of stone placed horizontally across upright stones with the graves under them. These are found in areas of Europe through which Celtic Peoples passed and are found also in areas of present day Jordan and Israel where Northern Israelite Tribes dwelt.

After the Roman invasion of the Isles, white cattle were introduced and later used. Until that time red was the preferred color. One of the most famous wars in Irish history was over a Red Bull stolen by a northern Irish tribe. Swine were not raised in early Celtic areas until after they were introduced by the Romans. The Celts had a taboo against eating swine and also against eating scaleless fish such as eels and shellfish. Celts, like the Israelites, were excellent herdsmen and developed identifiable breeds of sheep, cattle and horses, which carried on Israelite traditions.

Other Proofs

Perhaps one of the most telling commonalities is simply the self-identification as Israelites of Hibernians -- name of the Irish, Scots and Hebrides Islands off the coast of Scotland. Milesians, one of the early Celtic Peoples to come to Ireland from Spain, had a tradition that they were of the Lost Tribes of Israel. The name "Heber", "Eber", or "H'berian" is found throughout early literature to describe the Celts as they described themselves to be "Of Eber", grandfather of Abraham.

What I have presented here in greatly abbreviated form just skims the surface of the commonalities between the Celts and Israelites. There is a tremendous amount of information available for those who would like to learn more. A few resources are listed below. This is one of those subjects about which at first one may say "Oh, that is an interesting coincidence".

The sheer mass of such "coincidences" that accumulate after one studies the subject should raise eyebrows. The fact that so much of the languages are similar almost three thousand years later, that customs are clearly identifiable as being related, that religious practices are uniquely similar and that the everyday agricultural practices and crops were similar all along, together with many other commonalities, suggest possible common origin.

Mount Ephraim Newsletter (latest)

For the record, I am sharing this Mount Ephraim Newsletter of Stephen Spykerman from Great Britain, even though I am not fully convinced what to think about it. I have my prayerful reservations, but am keeping these things in mind like Jacob did with Joseph's dream (if that is an acceptable comparison) since I am for the prophetic knowledge of the Israelite origins of the West to become known among Jews and non-Jews, among the "Gentilized" Israelites of the North and West, among the Anglo-Saxons and white peoples of Northwestern Europe.

Must the Sabbath-keeping Church of God members (who agree on the basics of what Herbert W. Armstrong taught) agree perfectly with others who profess to be Christians before we can work together? I've encouraged the Church of God to support Yair Davidiy of Brit-Am Israel and he's a Torah-observant Jew who doesn't recognize Yeshua as the One but knows that we (Anglo-Saxons) are his brother Joseph.

May God lead and guide us, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and glorify His Name and fulfill His Word that Joseph and Judah will be reconciled.

MOUNT EPHRAIM NEWSLETTER

Dear Friends,

OUR LAST NEWSLETTER FELL INTO STRANGE HANDS
It was never my intention that our last Newsletter should fall into the hands of the Orthodox. This is especially the case because the content referred to our beloved Saviour Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel, and King of the Jews. In my dealings with our Orthodox friends in Jerusalem, I invariably do not refer to the Captain of our Salvation, simply out of the utmost respect and in deference to their faith. Nevertheless, I know that they know I am a believer in Yeshua, and they know that I know that they know. What brings us to agreement is the belief that the Two Houses of Israel, Judah and Ephraim, are destined to come together into one UNITED KINGDOM OF ISRAEL, as prophesied by all of the prophets. We also believe that we live in the very days when these two nations will be reunited into one Kingdom once again.

LETTER DIVERTED BY DIVINE APPOINTMENT
Judging by the subsequent amazing developments the letter clearly had been placed in Orthodox hands by Divine appointment. Whilst in Jerusalem for the last three days of our stay we were invited to become part of a work which, for the past year, has been witnessing about the imminent return of the Lost House of Israel to none other than the Rabbis of Israel. Whilst this work initially has met with huge resistance the encouraging fact is that by now over 2,000 rabbis have been reached. Can you imagine how significant this is? It is the Rabbinate of Israel that controls the gates into the land – that is, the Gates through which Ephraim will have to enter the Land. Thus through this ongoing work YHVH, the Holy One of Israel, is re-charging/re-activating the mindset of the Rabbinical Gate keepers without anyone being aware of what He is doing behind the scenes.

SURPRISE RESPONSE FROM OVADYAH AVRAHAMI
Imagine my surprise when I received an Email from OvadYah Avrahami, an Orthodox gentleman (an Ephraimite-become-one with Judah) from the so-called ‘occupied territories’ in Israel, referring to our Newsletter in the most glowing terms. Apparently without knowing I had really lit this gentleman’s fire with my Newsletter comments that ‘The message simply has to go to Judah. It also resonates with the Word which states that, the WORD of the LORD shall go forth from ZION! As you may remember, I posed the question; does this WORD GOING FORTH FROM ZION INCLUDE HIS PROPHETIC WORD TO THE TRIBES OF ISRAEL? I then proceeded to demonstrate from the Scriptures that the answer was a resounding YES! Our Orthodox friend was also struck by my comments about the KEY OF DAVID being in Judah’s hands, as Judah ultimately holds the key to the tribes coming back home to the land of their fathers.

INVITATION TO JOIN THE KOL HA TOR PROJECT
OvadYah told me that my statements had opened a window in his understanding which he wished to share with me. i.e. If the reunion of the Two Houses of Israel is not ‘steered’ from Judah, it cannot be Scriptural, for, “The WORD of YHVH shall go forth from ZION!” i.e. His Plan, His Purpose, His Torah & His Kingdom! He then proceeded to tell me about the highly confidential KOL HA TOR Project of which he was the administrative coordinator. I was asked a number of pertinent questions such as my views on missionising and proselytizing the Jews etc. We then entered into an exchange of views, at the end of which he invited me to join a closed group of supporters for the KOL HA TOR PROJECT.

WHAT IS THE KOL HA TOR PROJECT?
The Kol Ha Tor Project is an end-time prophetic work currently spearheaded by an Orthodox rabbi who is filled with a divine zeal and passion to convey the reality of, and to awaken the awareness of the now imminent return of the Lost House of Israel to his Rabbinical colleagues in the land. He has written a book in Hebrew, which reminds them of the rich layers of proofs to be found in the words of the great Sages of Israel. He also sites the emergence of the Christian Zionist movement and the massive surge of the Hebrew Roots Restoration movement as evidence that Hashem is stirring the Christian/Israelite world to return to Zion. Through his book and personal discussions with rabbis, he manages to quell their fears of being flooded by a proselytizing wave, by assuring them of the new and different spirit which is prevalent in this new ‘breed’ of Torah loving Ephraimites. Thus far some 2,000 books have already been distributed, and it has been officially included in the curriculum of one important Yeshiva with 200 rabbis in training. I can report that as a direct result of his efforts some 1,600 rabbis are now on side about the return of Ephraim, and their numbers are growing each week. Amongst those rabbis there are six who are of major national importance, and our aim is to multiply this number by a factor of at least ten, as it is only when we achieve this goal that the process becomes an unstoppable force for change.

WHAT IS THE OBJECT OF THIS PROJECT?
The main objective is to bring awareness to both the Houses of Judah and Ephraim of the need to make peace with each other in this 3000 year old ‘family feud’ between them in order to hasten or to make possible the establishment of God’s Kingdom – which requires the Return of the Shekinah Presence (the direct and visible Presence) of God. For this to happen there needs to be a huge mental shift in the hearts and minds of both the Rabbinate of Israel, (who hold the keys to entry for Ephraim) and the returning House of Ephraim (who generally refuse to pay the Rabbinate the respect they deserve as the Divinely mandated guardians of the Torah. Our rabbi is courageously tackling head on the massive prejudice that exist in the ranks of Judaism against Christianity spawned by millennia of Christian persecution. Through the centuries Jews have thus obtained a terribly jaundiced view of Jesus, the Christian Messiah.

JESUS IS NOT THE ANTICHRIST!
For those religious Jews who live by every precept of the Torah, the name of Jesus has become one of the vilest names under the sun. This is due mainly through the terrible things Christians have done to the Jews in that name, and then persisting in proselytizing them – even under the threat of the sword! They have come to look upon Jesus as an Anti-Christ, or Anti-Messiah. To try and change these ingrained attitudes is humanly virtually impossible, yet we know that with Our Heavenly Father, all things are possible. It is as a matter of correct perspective and awareness that our rabbi manages to influence them positively.

CHANGING PERCEPTIONS AND ATTITUDES
The amazing thing is that the Kol Ha Tor Project has taken up this consummate task of bringing a healing of attitudes between Judah and Ephraim. Our rabbi has started by changing the perceptions of his own Rabbinical colleagues about their Prophetic responsibility towards Ephraim, the reality of the Prophetic fulfillment regarding the Return of Ephraim taking shape at this very time. He does this by pointing out how the original Torah foundation of the New Testament has been suppressed and high-jacked by the Roman State religion in the days of Emperor Constantine, and contrasts this with the current phenomenon of a Return to Torah amongst re-awakening Ephraim.

JESUS WAS TORAH OBSERVANT
The rabbi points out that the Gospels are not the raging anti-Semite sources they are made out to be in Judaism’s circles. Jesus, according to the NT record, being Torah observant himself, preached adherence to the Torah, and also that in many of his statements and so-called rebukes of the Jewish religious leaders, he actually upheld the Oral Law in a style similar to normal Rabbinic debate regarding differences of opinion or interpretation. The rabbi points out that, according to NT writings, most of the time Jesus/Yeshua would support the School of Hillel, whereas on occasion he would support the School of Shammai. In his view it was the influence of Rome which turned this sect into the Jew and rabbi hating religion of Christianity.

CHANGING JEWISH HEARTS AND MINDS
I must add here that our rabbi emphatically does not accept that Yeshua is the Messiah of Israel, and neither does he accept the veracity of the New Testament as being the divinely inspired Word of YHVH. Nevertheless, this man is doing a wonderful work of pointing out to the Rabbis the Halachic Torah base of the NT, and the negative and contorting anti-Semitic onslaught of the Roman authorities against the Jewish influence in the NT. This immediately changes their conception of Christian Zionists and removes for them the threat of the ‘sword’. What is more, he is doing a work only an Orthodox Rabbi can do amongst the Rabbis – hence our confirmation that the Restoration must be ‘steered’ from out of Zion. It is noteworthy here that several attempts have been made towards the Rabbis over the last decade, regarding the promotion of the Restoration of the Two Houses of Israel. These were all driven by Messianic leaders, and they all failed miserably. The Kol Ha Tor project is the first of its kind, to be steered from within Judah, right in the heart of Jerusalem e.g. Zion! This courageous man of God deserves our unqualified support, and we should support him all we can.

OUR MEETING IN JERUSALEM
It took me nearly a whole day searching on the Internet to find our hotel in Jerusalem. Then on the 22nd January we finally booked into room 712 on the seventh floor. No sooner had we unpacked our cases than the telephone rang and it was Ovadyah Avrahami saying hello from room number 612 immediately below us. It transpired that OvadYah and his wife had been presented with a gift of a whole weeks stay in the same hotel we were in. Another divine appointment if ever there was one!! We subsequently spent many hours over the next three days in discussions with OvadYah and the rabbi, whose name I cannot mention because of the highly sensitive nature of his mission. In our discussions I was invited to translate my “WHO ARE YOU AMERICA?” booklet into Hebrew, so that it too can be printed in Israel. Our message with its dramatic full colour illustrations would then be taken down the same rabbinical channel, as further confirmation of the message about the imminent return of Ephraim.

THE DOOR INTO JUDAH IS NOW OPENING!
This is surely a momentous development – to me it is the fulfillment of a dream! Thousands of rabbis are BEING WOKEN UP to the extraordinary news that Judah’s long lost brothers of the House of Israel are in the spiritual process of being re-identified to their ancient Hebraic ancestry. For the moment we are concentrating our message on the religious leaders of Israel, and there will come a time when we will impart it to the secular leaders also. For the moment though the decision is to hold fire on this, as Israel is currently cursed with the worst anti-Israel & anti-G-d government in its history.

THE RABBIS ARE PETRIFIED AT THE PROSPECT OF MILLIONS OF RETURNING MESSIANICS.
Can we not understand their fears? They are afraid the Jewish society is going to be swamped by Christians with an evangelizing zeal to make converts of Jews. They are also most afraid of assimilation, as their sons and daughters are swept away in marriage to the newcomers. The Tanach (O.T.) prophesied that this kind of reaction would occur. Ezekiel prophesied that in the end times Judah would fear the return of her wayward brothers to the point where they will not want to receive them: “Son of man, your brethren, your relatives, your countrymen, and all the house of Israel in its entirety, are those about whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Get far away from the LORD; this land has been given to us as a possession.’” V17 Therefore say, “Thus says the LORD GOD: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.” V19-20 “Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them, and they shall be My people, and I will be their God.” Ezekiel 11: 15,17,19-20. The prophecy is that they will be given the land of Israel. Notice it does not mention that they will be given the land of Judah. In other words those returning Israelites will be given the former territory of the Northern Kingdom of Israel to dwell in. This fact alone should make Judah feel a whole lot better. This is the very point our rabbi makes to the rabbis he speaks to.

REMEMBER THE PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON?
Yeshua in his parable of the ‘Prodigal Son’ in Luke 15:11-32 speaks of a certain man who had two sons. The allegorical interpretation is that of a father who had two sons, e.g. one representing the House of Israel and the other the House of Judah. The son representing Israel asks to be given his inheritance, only to go away and waste his inheritance on riotous living. He end up totally destitute taking care of another mans pigs. He then comes to his senses and returns to his father’s house where he is received with great joy. His father orders the fatted calf to be slaughtered and makes a great feast for his prodigal son. The story then goes on to relate that the faithful son who had stayed at home with his father, e.g. Judah was upset and would not join the party. The parable goes on to relate the fathers words to Judah: “Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found!”
Can you imagine what a celebration there will be both in heaven and in all the earth when both the Houses of Judah and Israel become One again, having been separated for 2,700 long years? Can you imagine what a party that will be when finally Messiah Ben David rules over the REUNITED KINGDOM OF ISRAEL?

Did Y’shua not ask his disciples to pray “THY KINGDOM COME?” Well, with this Kol Ha Tor Project now in full swing in Judah we can do a lot more than pray. At the moment our project to the Rabbinical Gate keepers of Israel has barely a score of supporters who finance the operation. Some months there are only enough funds to print just a hundred Hebrew books, when we need to print thousands more. The rabbi in question also has considerable other responsibilities, and he needs to take on administrative staff to lighten his almost impossible load, so that he can spend more time on the work that matters to us all.

The work of Mount Ephraim too needs the funds to translate our publications into Hebrew, so that our confirmatory message may go down that same Rabbinical trail, thus hugely reinforcing the message already given. It will go to rabbis who have already been mentally prepared to receive it. Yet, despite all of this, none of us can accomplish anything if others do not jump in to help us. Now is the time to really get behind this work, not just with your prayers but also with your tithes, offerings and funds. I estimate that only some $ 25,000.00 is needed to complete this phase of our work. By the way, for those of you who wondered about the meaning of Kol Ha Tor – it means – ‘The Voice of the Turtledove.’ That same voice is right now calling for your support!

Jews to receive Jesus as Israel's King!

Is there strong indication in the Bible that Israel will have a change of heart and accept Yeshua because of the preaching of two prophets in Jerusalem, the Two Witnesses announced in Zechariah 4 and Revelation 11? Will the Jews grasp Jesus is the Anointed One, the Lamb and Lion of God, and finally convert?

Yes! There is definite proof of such as Yeshua clearly said He wouldn't return to Jerusalem, Judah or the Jews until they have a change of heart and welcome Him. The Two Witnesses, in the power and spirit of Elijah (who is dead and buried and awaits the First Resurrection), will prepare the way by preparing our people to receive our King!

Matthew 23:39

39 for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!'

Zechariah the prophet foresees such a long-awaited repentance and recognition! The Jews in Jerusalem will perceive that the Pierced One is the Firstborn of Judah and the Firstborn of God -- our King Messiah!

Zechariah 12:10-15

10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. 11 In that day there shall be a great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning at Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 And the land shall mourn, every family by itself: the family of the house of David [political establishment] by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves; 13 the family of the house of Levi [religious establishment] by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of Shimei by itself, and their wives by themselves; 14 all the families that remain, every family by itself, and their wives by themselves.

Yeshua, first and foremost, is the King of the Jews, the King of Israel (all Twelve Tribes of Israel). Yeshua is coming back specifically to keep alive God's physical promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and our Israelite forefathers who left Egypt: the iron-clad promise that the Fathers will always have some survivors, some physical remnant, beyond any shadow of a doubt.

The cities of Judah will hear this message loud and clear:

Matthew 24:22

22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

Romans 11:28

28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers.

Leviticus 26:44-45

44 Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.

45 But for their sake I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.

We are the physical elect, the physical Chosen People -- primarily the British-Israelites and Jews, Joseph and Judah -- for whose sakes' those days will be cut short by divine intervention or we would all be history and Satan could say God is a liar. But God's Word is good and true and He will prepare our people by a baptism of repentance by the Two Witnesses, speaking to our captive audience from Jerusalem (having been conquered by the German-Jesuit EU), giving us the GOOD NEWS that our personal lord and NATIONAL SAVIOR, our NATIONAL DELIVERER, is coming soon to save us.
